Design Technology

Our teaching in Design Technology aims to provide children with the opportunity to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts.

Children acquire a broad range of subject and learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.  In Design Technology there are six strands of learning:

  • Designing
  • Making : Cooking and Nutrition
  • Making : Sheet Materials
  • Making : Textiles
  • Making : Construction
  • Evaluating

Through lessons children experience working with a range of materials and acquire

technical knowledge and skills
