Equality & Accessibility

The Public Sector Equality Duty 2011 has three aims under the general duty for schools:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the act
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.

We consider how well we currently achieve these aims  with regard to the protected groups under the Equality Act 2010. Every year we identify a specific objective to advance equality of opportunity.

Links below give details of our Equality Objectives since 2012.

  • 2012-14 to raise the achievement of boys' reading.
  • 2015-16 to raise achievement in writing through improving the attainment of boys' writing and the achievement of pupils with EAL in literacy basics (Grammar, Spelling, Reading, Punctuation and Handwriting)

Equality Objective 2017-18

This is to be agreed during the Spring term 2017

Accessibility Plan

At Kilburn Park believe in providing every opportunity to develop the full potential of pupils and adults alike. All our pupils, staff and visitors should feel valued, cared for, listened to and encouraged to challenge themselves to be the best they can. It is our aim to reduce and eliminate barriers to the curriculum, fuller aspects of school life and the school environment for pupils, prospective pupils, staff, parents and visitors with a disability.
