Parental Workshops 

We had very positive feedback on the Parental Workshops we ran last year and we want to build on this success. 

We are pleased to run the following workshops this year:

  • Why reading for pleasure is so important
  • Strategies to support children at home
  • How to ask questions to deepen your child’s understanding.

Develop fluency in maths

Aims of the workshop:

  • What is fluency in maths?
  • Strategies to support a child’s fluency development at home
  • Understanding the Calculation Policy.

Supporting your year 6 child with SATs

Aims of the workshop:

Why are the SATs important?

Strategies to support your child with their preparation

How to manage your child’s anxieties

What happens after the Sat’s and how will it be reported?

Keeping your child safe online

Aims of the workshop:

  • What is some of the dangers children face while surfing the net?
  • What is on-line bullying?
  • How can I keep my child safe?
  • Should my child be using social media platforms
  • How much time should my child spend on-line?

Maths Workshop

Our Parent's Maths Workshop focused on the following: 

  • What is fluency in maths?
  • Strategies to support a child’s fluency development at home
  • Understanding the Calculation Policy

 

Healthy Living Coffee Morning

The Community Nurse came in and did a workshop with parents, explaining the importance of healthy living.  She gave real life examples of ways to improve the wellbeing of our families.

 

There was an opportunity for parents to try healthy breakfast and snack ideas as well as healthy home baked Banana Bread and Cheese Scones.
